Delete your SocialRise account
SocialRise, operated by Social Rise Group Pty Ltd (ACN 703 251 174, ABN 28 703 251 174), New South Wales, Australia.
The quickest way: in the app
Open SocialRise → Settings → Delete Account → Confirm. Your account is deleted straight away.
Only want to remove some things, like photos, your bio or messages? See Delete some of your data.
Without the app
Request sent.
We'll reply to that address to confirm the request is yours, then delete the account within 7 days and email you when it's done.
Or email contact@socialriseapp.com from the address on your account with the subject "Delete my account".
We'll reply to that address to confirm the request is yours, then delete the account within 7 days and email you when it's done. If you signed up with Google or Apple, use the email address of that Google or Apple account.
What we delete
- Your account and sign-in details.
- Your profile: name, photos, date of birth, gender, bio, home suburb, interests, score, level and badges.
- All your photos (profile and group photos and their thumbnails).
- Your friends list, friend requests, the people you've met, and your place in other people's friends and people-met lists.
- Your plan memberships and check-ins. Plans you were hosting are ended for everyone.
- Notifications sent to you; your push notification tokens.
- Ideas you tapped ("what you're keen for").
- Copies of messages you unsent.
- Records of photos our safety check refused (no image, just the result).
- Notification history on our server (the text of push notifications you sent).
What we keep, and why
- Messages you sent in group chats and direct messages stay in those chats so the conversation still makes sense for the other people, but they're shown as "Deleted User" with no name or photo.
- Reports made about your account or content are kept to keep the community safe and meet legal obligations. Reports you made are kept without your name.
- Crash reports held by Google Firebase expire on Google's schedule (up to 90 days). The app has not used Google Analytics since version 1.0.24; analytics data from earlier versions expires under the shortest retention setting.
- Server logs expire automatically (30 days).
We never sell your data.
Delete some of your data, and keep your account
You don't have to delete your account to remove things. In the app:
- Extra profile photos: open your profile (your photo at the top left of Discover) → Photos → the pencil → tap the × on a photo. Your main profile picture can be replaced (the camera on your photo), not removed.
- Bio: your profile → About → the pencil → edit or clear the text → Finished.
- Home area and Discover filters: Settings → Change Location to change your home suburb; Settings → Age Range, and the filter bar on Discover, for your filters.
- Messages: long-press a message you sent → Unsend → tap again to confirm. This works within 15 minutes of sending, in group chats and direct messages. Everyone in the chat then sees "unsent a message" instead of it.
- Groups: swipe the group chat left in Messages → Leave, or open the chat → Group info → Leave group. If you're hosting a plan, leaving ends it for everyone (the app asks first).
- Friends: open their profile → tap Friends → Remove.
- Reactions: tap your own reaction under a message to remove it.
Removed or replaced photos are deleted from our servers within about two days. A photo that has been reported is kept as evidence. A copy of an unsent message is kept for 30 days, so reports about it can still be handled, then deleted. Messages you sent stay in the chat after you leave a group.
Some things can't be changed in the app yet: your display name, gender and date of birth, and messages older than 15 minutes. To have any of these changed or removed, email contact@socialriseapp.com from the address on your account with the subject "Delete some of my data" and tell us what you'd like removed. We'll confirm the request is yours and reply within 7 days.
